How It Works

KommunityKoin is a platform dedicated to teaching and promoting the values of the giving economy - things like neighborliness, kindness, community service, volunteerism and just plain helping one another. This is all encapsulated in the idea of time co-ops and time banking where people come together in a community to help one another as needed, free of charge. In communities, however, the division of time is not always equal so there does need to be a way of tracking people's volunteer activity to ensure equitability within the community. We have devised an automated timekeeping ledger system that we call KoinPurse. This timekeeping ledger allows the participants of a community (Kommunity) to track their own volunteer activity using a system of time tracking credits that we call Koins. The use of Koins helps to ensure that everyone in a community (Kommunity) is participating equally - promoting an even distribution of activity within the community (Kommunity). Paying It Forward is just what the world needs and now there is a way to do it equitably - KoinPurse.

It's a simple three step process: Start Building Your Kommunity, create a WhatsApp group (for example) to coordinate your Kommunity, and utilize KoinPurse as your time credit management platform. It's as simple as that. You can even monetize a Kommunity WhatsApp group if you want to. The only real effort is in inspiring people to join you in your Kommunity - and anything worth having takes a little effort. So, here's to all of your future success in building your new Kommunity.

When someone in a Kommunity volunteers time to help another member of the Kommunity, the person receiving the volunteered time can easily recognize the donation by transferring Koins (time tracking credits) to the other person's KoinPurse. This is not compensation for the services provided but rather a timekeeping ledger entry to help track the volunteer activities of the members of the Kommunity. All time co-op and time banking platforms utilize some means of time tracking to maintain equitability within the community. Some platforms call it "time credits" or "time dollars". We call it "Koins". Our Koins are the same idea used by all time co-op and time banking platforms, just in a more user friendly format. The Koins will circulate within a Kommunity as a means of tracking the time volunteered and promote equitability of participation. There is never an obligation to give or receive Koins. Koins are simply a convenient means of tracking the volunteer activities of the members within a Kommunity if desired.

Anytime you participate in an activity with someone or a business, ask them if they use KoinPurse, if they say "no", tell them about it. This is a great way of introducing time co-ops and time banking to new people and builds your network.

At the moment, we are charging $3/month to subscribe to the KommunityKoin proprietary Koin system; which allows you to have a KoinPurse of time tracking credits, or Koins, to use as a means of timekeeping rather than the old version of timekeeping that relied on cumbersome line ledger or spreadsheet style entries.

Koins are not currency and can not be purchased, "cashed in" or used for compensation. Koins do not function as a unit of account, a store of value, or a medium of exchange.
